2024 The year of establishment

The foreword to the following NADEUM Kenya Report was written by the President of NADEUM HQ in Vienna, Mr Georg-Josef Scherbaum.

1

In 2024, after many challenges and delays, the branch was officially approved on 20 December 2024.

2

Later, we were told by other members of the NADEUM community who wanted to set up their own CBOs or SHGs that they had to wait up to five years before they received their opening certificate.

3

Thus, it can be said that we, i.e. the Kenyan Mr. Denis Mitei Cheruiyot and the headquarters in Vienna, were able to proceed with relative speed. We were informed that international NGOs that want to establish a branch in Kenya proceed much faster to establish an NGO branch after handing over all documents, such as an original document from the Kenyan authority certified by a notary and a certified translator.

4

The members of the board of the future NADEUM branch initially had to wait a long time before they received their police clearance certificates.

NADEUM-KENYA-AFRIKA REPORT FROM JANUARY 2024 ANNUAL-APRIL 2025

The author of the following report is the President of the NADEUM branch NKA_B, Mr Denis Mitei.

🌍 Introduction (1)

2024 marked a transformative year for sustainable development efforts in East Africa with the successful establishment of NADEUM-KENYA-AFRIKA. This report outlines the journey from inception to registration, the challenges overcome, and the impactful partnerships formed throughout the year.

🧩 Initial Contact and Founding Connection (2)

The journey began with a critical introduction facilitated by Mr. Nigel Stonham, who connected Mr. Denis Cheruiyot Mitei – a Kenyan educator and community sports trainer – with Mr. George Josef, the founder of NADEUM. Their discussions led to the vision of creating a NADEUM branch in Kenya, which Denis Mitei went on to lead as co-founder and president.

πŸ›οΈ Registration Journey and Legal Challenges (3)

The registration process began in early January 2024 and culminated successfully on December 30, 2024, nearly a year later. The team faced various bureaucratic challenges including paperwork, national intelligence vetting, and adapting to new laws such as the Public Benefit Organizations (PBO) Act, 2013. Despite these hurdles, NADEUM-KENYA-AFRIKA was officially registered as an NGO in Kenya.
